The Mirror on The Wall
In the story of The Seven Dwarfs, the queen had a mirror on the wall and its duty was to tell her who’s the fairest in the land. When the more beautiful snow-white came on the scene, the mirror’s verdict changed and the queen was no longer the fairest. The new, true but unfavorable verdict angered the queen that she smashed the mirror.
Unfortunately, the queen isn’t alone. Many leaders today also smash truthful mirrors. However, some leaders are ensnared by voices that sound like theirs especially if those voices are saying what they want to hear. In the event they don’t hear the voices they desire, they might listen to imaginary voices. This is a challenge, not only to leaders but also for anyone who listens to false sweet tales.
In conclusion, good leaders must appreciates and rewards those who’ll tell them the truth no matter how distasteful it might be. Then let me ask you these questions:
- What type of mirror do use, a favourable or a false one?
- If you’re a leader, will you smash your mirror for giving you an unfavorable verdict?
